We have partnered with a well-known and highly respected nonprofit charity in Waco who is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its leadership team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to the right persons to grow into the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position over time, with expanded administrative and strategic responsibilities.

The Accountant will report directly to the Executive Director and play a key role in strengthening financial operations as the organization transitions from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online to better integrate with donor management software.

Key Responsibilities

• Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing
• Maintain effective internal controls
• Safeguard organizational assets and ensure accurate, reliable financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with financial and contractual reporting requirements
• Assist with resolving accounting and financial issues
• Support budgeting and cash flow projections
• Participate in financial committee meetings
• Review receipts, disbursements, and financial documentation

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong understanding of accounting and financial management information requirements
• Formal education in Accounting or a related field
• Experience with QuickBooks (Enterprise preferred)
• CPA preferred, or demonstrated equivalent experience and skill level
• Ability to grow into a senior leadership role with increased administrative responsibility
